2016 COS Frappato
COS started in 1980 when three friends Giambattista Cilia, Giusto Occhipinti and Pinuccia Strano decided to start experimenting with grapes from their families old vine vineyards - the result is history. They reinvigorated Sicily and turned it into a wine region of note producing wines of significance and finesse. They are also some of the fathers of the Natural wine movement and pioneered the use of amphora (Pithos). This Frapatto is their entry level wine but boy is it good. If you want a red wine for drinking on a warm summer evening, this is the ticket. Light and plush but with so much intensity, complexity and style it is full of cherry and raspberry fruit, herbal and floral notes and sappy tannins. Great with grilled fish (esp. Salmon, Tuna and Game Fish), tomatoes and spice this is the business.
