2015 Carrick Billet Doux Pinot Noir
There are two wines in the pair (we were able to secure a small parcel of the '15 Pinot) - both wines are organic and made without fining, filtration and any adds whatsoever, including sulfur. They are also among the most beautiful, poised, expressive natural NZ wines we have been able to offer. Both wines have a fineness and beauty that is hard to challenge and also both offer exceptional value for money.
We have a little bit of the 2015 Billet Doux, even though the 2016 has just been released, Francis snaffled us a little of 2015 because in his words it is, "fucking delicious and it will have more immediate appeal". It is 100% able clone Pinot Noir from Bannockburn which has 18 days on skins with only one punch down per day. The wine label questions itself impassioning the the drinker, "Let's talk stability and texture." It is beautiful, seductive and aromatic and so different to most other Central wines we've tasted. It too has a fantastic label, illustrated and handpainted by LA-based Leon Ofsky and NZ artist Margarita Vovna.
