2015 Latente Malbec
When I first tasted this wine I fell in love, farmed at about 700m above sea level this wine in desert like conditions it has all the depth and intensity that Argentine Malbec should have but also has almost profound subtlety with lively floral notes, supple plum and cherry notes and clean focused tannins bringing balance and linear structure to the wine. On top of these it has a hint of game but also creamy milk chocolate and just a hint of sappy, edgy, almost green freshness. In regards to food? Steak! A well aged cut of something with a bit of texture and a heap of flavour (I’m thinking skirt or tri-tip) dressed in something herby, either cafe de paris butter or chimichurri.
