2016 Black Star Field Blend
We don't know where to start with this wine other than to say it is delicious! Is it red, is it pink, is it orange? It is all of these things and none of these things. It is a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Gewurtztraminer from the Waitaki Valley in Nth Canterbury - skin fermented for 7 weeks and then barrel aged before release. Made by Theo Coles it is as natural as it gets: organic grapes, no fining, no fitration and no sulfur. It is the lightest of reds (so we've filed it as a red wine) and needs to be drunk chilled. If you want something exciting, challenging and something you will probably never get to try again get in on this.
