Tasting: New York State Wines with Connal Finlay (Tuesday 18 April)
Tuesday 18 April
New York State is one of the US's up and coming wine regions and WSET educated Connal Finlay is the owner of Off Broadway Wines - a specialist importer New York State wines. In this tasting we are going to taste through both Long Island and The Finger Lakes to taste what makes these wines special.
Of the wines Connal says, "New York Wines are at the frontier of winemaking, and trends thereof, in the United States of America after California and Washington State. They are the fourth most important state in terms of production but are surely neck-and-neck with California as far as variety and interesting wines are concerned. Thanks to it's unique climate (maritime in Long Island and cool continental in the Finger Lakes) NY can produce everything from stunning Rieslings, abundant aromatics, juicy Pinot Noirs to fleshy Chardonnays and incredibly ripe Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignons. It is a hot-bed of wine production with some of the first orange and pet-nat wines made in the USA coming from the industrious producers in the East. "
