Teliani Valley are one of the big, modern winemakers in Georgia. They make a range of wines in European styles but also have this special range of traditional Qvevri wines. Here the juice sits on the skins for some time in the clay amphora (qvevri) before being siphoned off and into another qvevri to complete fermentation. 

This wine, which broadly fits the category of orange wines, is made from the very rare indigenous grape Kisi. Almost extinct during the Soviet era, Georgian winemakers have been able to give it new life. This example is a rich golden colour with notes of dried flowers, honey and walnuts. There's some acid but also a strong tannic structure. A wine that asks for some good food - nuts, hard cheeses and grilled meat are ideal.
